If you do premium rate business in the UK, you will need to register with the regulator PhonepayPlus by September 1st 2011.

On that date, it will be mandatory to register your business for regulatory reasons. This is not optional. We will be monitoring all our clients doing premium traffic in the UK to ensure that they are registered.

It is essential that you take steps now to register if you have not already done so.

The good news is that registration is quick and easy, using an online form. There is a one-time cost of £80 +VAT to register. This rises to £100 +VAT on September 1st.

Once you register, please let our team know your registration number. Your txtNation service may be at risk if you fail to let us know. You can contact your account manager or our support team to do this. As always, we are here to advise you if you have any concerns or questions.

The registration ensures that all individuals and businesses involved in premium rate services involving UK consumers are transparent, trackable and responsible. This clarifies the relationship between service providers and information providers and their customers, removing grey areas and ensuring consistent communications.

Every individual and business (including but not limited to marketers, aggregators, mobile networks, billing providers) who supplies premium rate services of any kind, and at any stage of the value chain, to consumers who live in the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, must register with PhonepayPlus.

If you are an international client, based outside the UK, but who supplies such services to UK consumers, you must still register by September 1st 2011.

Our flagship billing aggregation software mENABLE is joining forces with our copy-and-paste billing widget JunglePay.

Together under an extended JunglePay brand we will continue to support all our existing mENABLE clients and will welcome new clients to join us under the JunglePay umbrella.

mENABLE will be re-branded as JunglePay over the coming weeks. The mENABLE control panel module and API will be phased out, though the payment window will continue to operate for the time being.

JunglePay allows clients without extensive technical knowledge to put premium SMS, credit card and landline phone billing (IVR) at the heart of their e-commerce website, blog or social media page. An excellent fit for all existing and prospective mENABLE clients.

If you are an existing client, speak to your dedicated account manager today about your options. We’re keen to support you thoroughly during this transition.

txtNation has been more mobile than usual — we’ve moved to a new building. Things were getting a bit claustrophobic due to our expansion and growing teams, so we have moved from our suites at Poseidon House and into a bigger building just for us.

Our new billing solution mENABLE Widget, which is becoming more and more popular with our clients for its ease-of-use, now provides dynamic pricing tools, allowing websites to send pricepoints to the Widget on-the-fly.

In the past, if you had many different goods or services in your inventory, you would need to use either a different Widget for each item, or a drop-down menu in the Widget, listing all these set prices. This is fine for small inventories, but not useful if you have many services on offer or if prices change regularly or per transaction.

Now, you can use a simple API to send pricing direct to the Widget. This means one Widget on your site and no lengthy drop-down menus to wade through.

The API is also useful if you want to build your own shopping cart or extend an existing one. When a customer buys multiple items from you, the total value of the goods can be sent dynamically to the Widget.

The Widget Dynamic Tools API is available right now and we’re actively working on other APIs to give you better control over the Widget.

We’re delighted to offer our clients a clearer way to request support. Over the next few weeks, we are migrating all our client support to a new system administered through Zendesk, a leader in support software solutions.

Your support will still be supplied by our in-house experts, but using Zendesk rather than our own support system. We want to invest more time in giving you support rather than in the upkeep of our underlying, in-house support systems. This maximises our time for you.
