txtNation has recently invested in major upgrades to key parts of its platform, enabling it to deal with increasing demand for mobile messaging services as part of its commitment to maintaining its leading position in the mobile billing and messaging market.

The platform has seen considerable investment over the last few years, and has become markedly more robust, adding several new global locations and cutting-edge mobile payment services.

The new processing cluster, which is currently being rolled out, will increase throughput of messages and increase general reliability across our client services. The changes will boost the capacity of some core services by a third.

This comes ahead of the upcoming beta release of our next-generation Control Panel, to replace the current version of our flagship software and will launch under the “My.txtNation” brand. You can read more about this and view screenshots here.

Adding to these changes, we’re also in the planning stages of bringing further improvements to our queueing systems that we hope to launch by Christmas. This will make them more responsive and robust, further increasing the throughput of our main SMS messaging services.

Leading mobile billing and messaging provider txtNation announces its acquisition of mobile entertainment outfit 24GMedia.

24GMedia, with headquarters in the UK and South Africa, designs, integrates and maintains consumer-focussed mobile payment apps for top-fight brands such as Pizza Hut and leading operators in online gambling. It specialises in solutions for selling digital and physical goods in a safe, secure and simple manner.

The direct relations and first tier operator connectivity assets of 24GMedia immediately expands txtNation’s existing global platform and is another step in the company’s drive towards bolstering its direct relations with MNOs in its home market.

txtNation’s platform, which recently celebrated its first decade, provides billing access to over 80 mobile operators around the world through a single API and a further 200 for messaging. The acquisition gives txtNation further access to 24GMedia’s strong relationships with MNOs in the UK and beyond to increase value and scalability for its clients.

txtNation attended Google’s invitation-only Atmosphere event in the heart of the City of London, at Whitbread’s original brewery. Atmosphere is an annual event where business leaders meet to engage with Google. The search advertising giant presents on a number of topics, including “making better decisions”, “transforming your business”, and “working the way you live”.

Amit Singh, President of Google Enterprise, kicked off the day with an informative talk, predominantly making the point that they see their future as heavily focused on mobile both at Google and everywhere throughout the world; key points:

This quarter for the first time worldwide there are more tablet and smartphone users than desktop PCs.

  • In India there are more mobile internet users than broadband.
  • There were 450 million Gmail users last year and 915m this year.
  • 58% of Fortune 500 companies are using Google enterprise, users are no longer early adopters, they are the majority.
  • The Eurovision final this weekend used Google’s cloud server processing for scale and speed.
